Chronicle of Riga Lerpata is an audio walking show, which will be available to all interested people free of charge until August 30 and can be enjoyed at any time of the day. The show lasts about two and a half hours, but the exact length of the walk depends on how smooth the step of the visitor is. Enjoying the work does not require any technical support for the spectators, informs Quadriphron representative Ance Strazda.
In the newly created work, various legends and stories about the origin and potential death of Riga are closely intertwined. Wandering through the narrow, cobbled streets of the Old Town, spectators have the opportunity to engage in an exciting adventure that seems to take place right here, behind the doors of small Old Riga houses: the day has come when an old and terrible prediction will come true in Riga again, to stop and what can be done so that the Daugava does not swallow its shores and even tomorrow we wake up in our beautiful, bustling, tickling and dim city.
Following the clues and instructions given by the heroes encountered during the performance, the audience is invited to go for a walk around the Old Town to solve the mystery of the Riga flywheel and save the city from destruction. It is an unpredictable adventure, in which mythology, modern technologies, Riga architecture and various clichés of the adventure literature and detective novel genre play an equally important role.
The central axis of the show is the Old Town itself, which is symbolically considered to be the core of Riga – the “empty zone” or “zero point”, the visit of which to a large part of the public is to some extent directly associated with enjoying the cultural and entertainment offer. At the same time, however, the Old Town has gradually become unfamiliar to Rigans in recent years – first it was given back to mass tourism, which led to almost no locals living in the Old Town, but now, due to the restrictions caused by the protracted crisis, a large part of closed and Riga city center is visited less and less.
Chronicle of Riga Lerpata and Quadriphron dedication and gift to the capital. Although the ways to decentralize culture have been increasingly sought recently, the creators of the show hope that Rigans and guests of the city will raise their eyes and enjoy the forgotten beauty of the Old Town.
Starting point of the show – Torņu Street 1, exhibition halls Arsenal main entrance. There, the audience will be greeted by an informative poster on how to start the show tour. Each of the seven stops included in the show is revealed in the previous paragraph during the show.
