A hunting horn concert will be given at the Saint-Médard church in Thouars, Friday October 25, 2024 at 8:30 p.m. “This is a first for the Rallye Trompes and its choir, the location is perfect for it”explains choir director Francis Métois. There will be an alternation between twenty bell ringers and thirty singers.
There will also be exceptional guests: bell ringers from Échos du Thouet and also a former French champion, in 2011, Laurent Besnault, coming from Chambon in Indre-et-Loire.
Some new additions to the repertoire will be discovered, including Basque singing the wings. It is a true ode to freedom and love, inspired by a poem written by Joxean Artze, illegally printed on napkins to resist the Franco regime which banned the use of Basque. The poem then becomes a song and is now the song of an entire people and its culture: “If I had clipped his wings, he would have been mine; he would not have left, yes, but there you go, he would no longer have been a bird; Yes but me. It was the bird I loved. »
The hunting horns will sound Saint-Hubertin honor of the patron saint of hunters, the entrance song and the finale, like the Virgin’s Mill et the Saint-Varent Millplace of rehearsals. Solos and trios are also on the program, as for the choir a Béarnais song, the Shepherd of Aurename of a valley in the Pyrenees.
