An incredible scam
Seven defendants appear before the Nancy Criminal Court as part of this case of alleged fraud with multiple twists. The Château de la Rochepot, an emblematic figure of Burgundy’s heritage, was sold at the end of 2015 to Ukrainian investors. Two years later, the Bien Public reveals that many contractors working at the castle have not been paid.
In October 2018, the owners and the manager were arrested. Among them, Dmitri Malinovsky, a Ukrainian with a sulphurous past, accused in particular of having embezzled 12 million euros and of having faked his death to escape justice in his country. Dmitri Malinovsky is currently imprisoned in Nancy-Maxéville prison.
But the eight days of hearings to come could already fall into the water when only the identities and the facts alleged against the seven defendants have been recalled.
