The trial of the alleged robbers of Bagneux is interrupted. A case of Covid detected among the police officers of the escort forced the Assize Court to suspend the hearing on Thursday. The trial is postponed to a date which has not yet been fixed as the agenda of the Assize Court is so tight. In normal times, the trials are linked. In these troubled times, and in particular after the postponements of hearings imposed by the confinement of March and April of last year, the room for maneuver is even narrower.
The option of a suspension of a few days, the time of isolation of contact cases and screening was obviously considered. But impossible to hold it back. Suspending a few days would have shifted the end of the debates to the first week of April. But another trial, involving three more accused and scheduled over two weeks, is due to start on Tuesday 6.
The accused case contact
The accused, three young men aged 21 to 23, are among the first contact cases since the police officer diagnosed positive was in charge of their surveillance.
The young alleged robbers of Bagneux appeared since Monday for a series of attacks at home and three kidnappings with forcible confinement, all in Bagneux for the majority of the alleged offenses and between the end of June and the end of August 2018. They returned to detention, where they were held. will be screened, and pending their next trial date.
The epidemic disrupted the organization of the trial as soon as it opened. Indeed, the Advocate General who was to represent the prosecution at the hearing is affected. He was therefore replaced at short notice by one of his colleagues.
