The investigative chamber of the Court of Appeal of Angers (Maine-et-Loire) announced Wednesday that the assize trial of the mother of little Vanille would take place on 6, 7 and 8 February 2023; noticed Western France. The accused, 42, will appear for infanticide. He had admitted to killing him her daughter on her first birthday in Angers.
The events took place on February 7, 2020. The trial will therefore take place exactly three years after the child’s death. The homeless mother of the child had kidnapped Vanille, placed in the care of a foster family. She was arrested in Nantes (Loire-Atlantique) two days later.
When questioned in police custody, she explained that she suffocated her daughter in a public garden by sticking duct tape to her face. Upon her indication, the child’s body had been found in a container with clothes. This Wednesday, the Angers Court of Appeal decided to keep the accused in custody until trial. She never asked to be released.
