The trial for the death of a baby in Tenerife will be held in September | Radio Club Tenerife | Present

With the arrival of phase 3, the courts have already begun to hold trials and have made complaints about pending cases such as the case of the murder of a baby in the municipality of La Orotava. It is an event that shocked the entire island and that, according to sources from the prosecution service to the SER, will be held in September at the Provincial Court of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The events occurred in May 2018 in the municipality of La Matanza de Acentejo (Tenerife) when a call was received to the 112 Emergency Coordination Center from a mother who warned that her daughter was not breathing.

When the health workers arrived at the place they could not do anything for her except certify her death and it was precisely the doctors who activated the protocol and reported to the Civil Guard who proceeded to arrest the mother. In her statement, the mother of the deceased baby assured that the girl had been ill for days and had fallen in the bathtub. Later, the autopsy revealed that the minor suffered multiple contusions that caused her death. In this sense, the Prosecutor’s Office considers that the minor suffered “extreme suffering” for which it requests the imposition of a permanent prison sentence that can be reviewed for the crime of murder and three years in prison for the two accused. In addition, she asks for the loss of parental authority over the other daughter of the couple.
