KOMPAS.com – World Health Organization (WHO) said on Monday (10/5/2021), coronavirus case and daily deaths in a stagnant world.
However, the number of additional daily cases is still too high and is increasing in several countries.
At the WHO’s presentation regarding Covid-19 on Monday (10/5/2021) in Geneva, WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said, although there was a decrease in Covid-19 cases in several countries, the addition of 5.4 million new cases and nearly 90,000 deaths around the world in the last week is a very high number.
He reminded us not to let similar incidents like during 2020 be repeated.

Last year, when the trend of Covid-19 cases in several countries had decreased, the public ignored health protocols and the number of cases quickly went up again.
In addition, Tedros also explained that Covid-19 cases were increasing in South Asia, especially India and several other countries.
“WHO continues to raise funds to meet the needs of oxygen, personal protective equipment and medicine in the region,” said Tedros, as reported VOA News, Monday (10/5/2021).
Tedros said vaccines reduce severe Covid-19 disease, death and even prevent transmission.
However, he said, differential access to vaccines in many countries is one of the biggest challenges to ending the pandemic.
