The trauma hospital explains the long waiting in the reception with the overload of the institution / Article / LSM.lv

In response to the Minister of Transport’s recording on Twitter about the long wait in the Trauma Hospital, a meeting of the Saeima Public Health Subcommittee was convened, where the hospital management explained that it is possible to wait up to 6 hours in line due to staff shortages.

“Today I am participating in a social experiment: how many hours do I have to wait for an injury. The first five hours have passed, the person has not yet reached the doctor, ”the Minister of Transport Tālis Linkaits (New Conservative Party) wrote on the microblogging site Twitter.

Injury reception rooms are sleek, built with EU funds, only chairs are missing, prospective patients for hours on foot. Some, having learned that they have to wait at least 6 hours, go down and leave.

“Result: door to door in 6 hours; medical staff – fast, courteous, professional (as far as I can tell); work / flow organization – zero; the premises are new, but not too narrow, the waiters have not been thought of, ”Linkaits wrote the conclusions on Twitter.

Social experiment – glamorous space and long waiting. This is how Linkaits described his experience at the Traumatology and Orthopedics Hospital on August 3.

He himself did not attend the commission meeting because he was at a government meeting. The head of the subcommittee, Vitaly Orlov (“Harmony”), explained that he wanted to hear Linkaita’s comment and observations “limping in the work organization”, so he convened a meeting.

“He’s the head of the ministry, I wanted to hear from him what’s going on there, what’s going on there,” Orlov explained.

Uģis Zariņš, the chief doctor of the Hospital of Traumatology and Orthopedics, did not reveal whether Linkaits was in the hospital, because he was “forbidden by the hard finger of the law”.

However, the doctor confirms that you may have to wait in a long line.

Also, the fact that not only this, but all other hospitals are working on the verge of depletion due to a lack of medical staff.

“The waiting time can be up to 6 hours, if it is on holiday evenings, I can confirm it,” admitted Zariņš.

The premises for the reception of the traumatology hospital are also too small. They are planned to admit 50 to 70 patients a day, but, for example, on Monday, August 10, the hospital admitted 125 patients, which is almost twice the resources.

The deputy Inese Ikstena (“For Development / Par!”) Used the opportunity to share her experience story, but only in Stradiņi, emphasizing that the problem with waiting for admission has worsened.

“I sat in a row on a plastic chair for 12 hours, I call on the board of Stradiņš to sit on the chair for 12 hours,” the deputy said.

The Ministry of Health is currently working on a review of hospital levels. In the future, this would also relieve the Traumatology Hospital by providing quality services in regional hospitals.

The capacity of reception units could also be increased soon.

“We plan to expand observation beds in all hospitals. We have an idea that a separate workload of doctors could be created at the admission departments, ”explained Antra Valdmane, Director of the Health Care Department of the Ministry of Health. The meeting of the subcommittee closed without taking any specific decisions.
