The Transformation of Rudy Giuliani: From America’s Mayor to a Threat to Democracy

“How did the politician once celebrated as ‘America’s mayor’ become a man who wants to overturn a presidential election? It’s like two different people.” That’s what prosecutor Hamilton Fox said in a hearing last December.

Rudy Giuliani was once New York City’s most popular mayor. He was especially praised for his crisis management after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. But now he is being accused of conspiring with Donald Trump. His good reputation in American society is falling apart, as “blue News” writes.

Last week, the former US President was indicted in court – for the fourth time. He and seventeen other suspects, including Rudy Giuliani, would undermine Joe Biden’s election victory three years ago.

The ex-mayor of New York City described the charges in Georgia as an “affront to American democracy”. This would irrevocably damage the American judicial system.

According to experts, his political “descent” began fifteen years ago. At that time he ran as a Republican for the presidential elections, but was unable to assert himself because of a number of liberal positions.

To recover from the defeat, he spent a month in a bungalow at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate. When Trump ran for office in 2016, Giuliani strongly supported him. “He needed Giuliani, and Giuliani needed Trump,” says biographer Andrew Kirtzman.

Trump’s new henchman accused Clinton of crimes. He later even traveled to Ukraine to gather defamatory information about Biden’s son, Hunter. In 2021, Rudy Giuliani lost his law license for goading Trump supporters before the Capitol storm. These aggressive actions earned him the reputation as “Trump’s attack dog”.
