Clement Lenglet has been one of the great novelties of the new Barça. The French center-back is still immersed in a negotiation to be transferred to Tottenham and his incorporation into the Blaugrana sports city should speed up his departure.
There is still no agreement between the two clubs, but this weekend there have been contacts and everyone is clear that they will have to give in so that the operation can take place. Barça, Tottenham and the player must do their part to formalize the transfer.
The talks are clear and Tottenham would have reached a verbal agreement with Lenglet for the next three seasons. The economic effort is great because it assumes a good part of the contract that Lenglet had left with Barça, but the Frenchman would lose some money. Both Barça and the player are negotiating compensation in the form of termination and there could be white smoke soon.
There is no agreement between Barça and Tottenham either. The English club does not want to pay more than 10 million euros for the purchase considering that it already makes enough effort with the player’s file. Barça wanted 15 but they are looking for intermediate formulas with objectives. At the Blaugrana club they are clear that the operation cannot be broken off due to the savings that Lenglet’s departure would entail and because there are no other offers on the table for now.
Barça and Tottenham have spoken this weekend and want to reach a definitive solution in days to prevent the Frenchman from going on a tour of the United States and start training with his team. Lenglet has no options to continue after the signing of Íñigo Martínez, but he will continue in the blaugrana discipline until there is a total entente between all parties.
