In his statements today, Al-Mawlawi revealed that the number of passengers using Doha Metro trains to travel to and from World Cup stadiums has so far reached 11 million passengers during the group stage competitions and round of 16, noting that 3.8 million passengers also used free public transport buses to reach stadiums, taxis, Karwa, Kareem, Uber and private vehicles were also available, to help fans move around the pitch with ease, and the number of cars grew to 700,000, but the subway remained the main nerve of the movement and moving process in the tournament without any problems or crowds.
Al-Mawlawi expressed his great happiness with the widespread praise for Qatar’s organization of the World Cup, the great success of the transfer process and the great fluidity in the arrival of the masses to the stadiums, where the number attendance in some matches reached more than 89,000 spectators and almost all stadiums were full, both in the group stage and in the rounds.
The executive director of transport operations at the Supreme Committee for Handovers and Legacy explained that an operations control room has been working around the clock throughout the day since the start of the championship competitions to resolve any problems of emergency.
He stressed that the great cooperation between the Qatar General Department of Traffic in organizing traffic and the Public Works Authority in installing information signs in all languages, in addition to all state bodies and institutions of Qatar, and the clear solidarity contributed to the success of the transport plan for the entire championship period.
Al-Mawlawi continued, saying: The plan that has been drawn up in this framework was completed 4 full years ago, and it has been studied intensively, and despite the presence of many difficulties and challenges, the plan has been successful so far, and not we look forward to continuing this success to the end.
Al-Mawlawi concluded his remarks by saying, “The concern for us was that getting in and out of any stadium, regardless of the number of spectators, would be very smooth and safe. Indeed, we have done a great job agreed with all the partners in the country, so the first difficult stage of the tournament has passed, which is the holding of 4 matches.” In one day successfully and without damage or problems, and we also hope that the remaining days complete the success achieved in the past.
