The Tragic Life of Stanisław Mikulski: From Fame to Personal Loss

Stanisław Mikulski became known to the public in 1956. Then director Andrzej Wajda gave him one of the main roles in the film entitled “Canal”. In turn, in 1965, the actor played the iconic Hans Kloss in Television Theater performances. From 1967, he played the same character in the TV series “Stawka higher than life”.

On the set of the series “The stakes are greater than life” in 1968, the actor met his second wife – costume designer Jadwiga Rutkiewicz-Mikulska. Two years later, the couple got married. Unfortunately, cruel fate did not spare them tragedy. They lost two children.

Two years after the wedding, their son Bartłomiej was born, who lived only a few hours. A year and a half later, Grzegorz was born, but he also died a few hours after birth – reports “Se.pl”.

Some time later it turned out that the boys left this world because of an insidious disease of the lymphatic system from which the star’s partner suffered.

“My wife Jadwiga started getting sick in the mid-1970s. She couldn’t give birth to healthy children. We learned about the disease itself later, linking it to the events in the maternity ward. “It was called grain,” Mikulski said in 2012 in his autobiography “Reluctantly about myself.”

Jadwiga Mikulska died at the age of only 47. The actor took care of her bravely until the end. In 1988, the man moved to Moscow, where he worked as the director of the Polish Information and Culture Center.

There he met musicologist Małgorzata Błoch-Wiśniewska. She was Mikulski’s third and last wife. The actor’s death separated them in 2014.
