“Since ancient times, beauties have a bad life and are not allowed to grow old in the world.” Looking back over the five thousand years of Chinese history, beautiful and famous women rarely have a good ending! In the feudal system where men were superior to women, Wanrong was the last queen. The political turmoil of the new society and the old morality were torn apart and collided with each other. Wanrong, who was caught between the two forces, was destined to be a tragic figure, which is very sad!

In 1922, Wanrong, who was 16 years old, was elected to the palace because of her dignified, beautiful, fresh and refined appearance, and became the last queen in the history of the Qing Dynasty; but at this time, the Qing Dynasty had long ceased to exist, but according to the “Regulations on the Royal Family”, Puyi Still living in the Forbidden City, retaining the title of emperor, Wanrong, who was born in a Manchu noble family, became the queen of the Qing emperor Puyi.

After Puyi and Wanrong got married, their lives were quite happy at the beginning. However, the good times did not last long. In 1924 AD, Feng Yuxiang launched a coup. On November 5 of the same year, Puyi was expelled from the Forbidden City. Wanrong also followed Puyi and came to live in Tianjin. After leaving the palace, Puyi’s privileges no longer existed. As time passed, the shortcomings of the two’s inconsistent personalities gradually came to light. Among them, Puyi’s physical flaws were particularly difficult for Wanrong to accept.

It turned out that Puyi was young and ignorant in his early years. Under the instigation of the eunuchs in the palace, he and his maids indulged in male and female affairs, and eventually fell into a hidden disease and could not have normal sex. Although Puyi and Wanrong were spiritually complementary, Puyi had been focused on restoring imperial power since he was expelled from the Forbidden City, completely neglecting the young and beautiful Wanrong.

At that time, Wanrong was in her prime of youth, and she was as beautiful as a flower. The Huaichun woman did not get the favor she deserved from Puyi, and as time went by, problems inevitably developed. Sure enough, Wanrong still couldn’t stand the long-term loneliness and had an affair with someone else. At first, Wanrong had a relationship with Puyi’s attendant Qi Jizhong under the strings of her brother and the maid with ulterior motives. Later, Qi Jizhong, as a candidate for the Puppet Manchukuo General School, was sent to the Japanese Army Non-commissioned Officer School by Pu Yi to study abroad. Wanrong had a relationship with another attendant of Pu Yi, Li Tiyu. Puyi was kept in the dark about Wanrong’s affair for a long time. It was not until 1935, when Wanrong was pregnant and about to give birth, that Puyi found out the truth.

Wanrong’s behavior undoubtedly destroyed Puyi’s dignity. So Puyi threw Wanrong into the cold palace in a rage, and the baby girl she gave birth to died in infancy. Wanrong suddenly changed from a noble queen to an abandoned queen in the cold palace, living a life of darkness and darkness; after this After a blow, Wanrong, who used to be like a flower, became a madman who could not control herself at all. She no longer knew how to dress up and was moody all day long. Only one habit remained, which was smoking opium every day.

Wanrong was locked in a house and isolated from the outside world. Puyi sent two eunuchs and two maids to take care of her. When she was most seriously ill, she could no longer get off her legs to walk. Because she had been locked up in the house for a long time, Wanrong, who was already suffering from eye problems, could not see the light in her eyes. She had to use a fan to cover her eyes and see people through the gaps in the fan bones. But she occasionally wakes up. At this time,She cried and scolded her father Rong Yuan, scolding him for ruining her daughter’s life just because she wanted to be the head of the country.

Wanrong was imprisoned for ten years. The place she lived in was a mess and smelled everywhere, just like a “pig pen”. Later, when she was rescued, she cried bitterly after seeing her family and said something that made people feel heartbroken. she says:“My whole life is all given by my father.”a simple sentence expressed the sadness of her life, and also made people see the sorrow of women in the feudal era.
