Death of Maurane: her daughter confides
The body of the 57-year-old star was found lifeless at his home in Brussels. A sudden disappearance which pushed the Brussels public prosecutor’s office to open a judicial investigation before closing the case without further action a month later, considering that his death was accidental. According to the autopsy carried out on the artist’s body, Maurane was the victim of internal bleeding possibly due to a heavy fall in his bathtub.
In the columns of Parisian, her only daughter Lou Villafranca had confided in silence about the causes of her disappearance. “It’s an accidental cause. I don’t want to say more. She had a fall,” she explained before adding: “The media or even artists said it could have been suicide, but that’s not the case at all. I was very sad that this was being considered. She went back on stage, she sang again… It was absurd to say that.”

His funeral took place on May 17, 2018 at the Notre-Dame-des-Grâces church in Woluwe-Saint-Pierre. Afterwards, Maurane’s body was buried in the Auderghem cemetery in the Brussels-Capital Region.
