Shooting Mass again occurred in the United States (US). The tragedy this time occurred just in time for the commemoration of US Independence Day.
Reported AFP and CNN, Tuesday (5/7/2022), the shooting occurred in Chicago, Illiniois, United States, at 13:14, Monday (4/7) local time. A shooter is said to have opened fire during the independence parade.
“Killed at least six people,” local officials said.
The shooting in Highland Park, which is located near Chicago, also caused injuries. Police then hunted down the perpetrators of the mass shooting.
“24 people were injured,” said police and the local mayor.
Police Arrest Suspected Perpetrator
Police later arrested the perpetrator shooting fatal that killed at least six people. The perpetrator, who was armed with a high-powered rifle, is said to have opened fire from a rooftop of a local building.
Reported ReutersHighland Park Police said it arrested a suspect identified as Robert E. Crimo III (22) years and came from the area.
According to the video footage released by the affiliate ABC News in Chicago, police personnel can be seen surrounding a car and then Crimo can be seen getting out of the car with his hands raised in the air. Moments later, Crimo fell to the ground and was immediately arrested by the local police.
Highland Park Police said the charges would be against Crimo. However, the police have not stated what charges will be charged. The motive behind the shooting is not yet clear.
A videotape taken with a mobile phone, but not verified, shows the sound of about 30 rapid shots, then a pause and another 30 rapid shots. Amidst the barrage of gunfire, a woman can be heard shouting: “Oh my God, what happened?”
