After its premiere at the 59th New York Film Festival, “Tragedy of Macbeth” opens in US cinemas on December 25th. From January 14th, the film can be streamed on Apple TV +, which inevitably raises the question of what Joel Coen thinks that his film may be seen by viewers at home and not in the cinema. “As a filmmaker, of course, you want your audience to see your movie on the best possible screen. A filmmaker’s worst nightmare is someone seeing your movie on a plane,” Coen said. But he also emphasized that such “risky” films as “The Tragedy of Macbeth” only exist because they are financed by streamers. This is not your usual Hollywood fare, to say the least.
