“Have you already taken the photo?”, asks a volunteer from the Zaragoza City Council to some new parents who are waiting expectantly for the ass of the Tragachicos expel his son. This one just came out of the slide with a scared face but far from crying, he seems to have enjoyed the experience. So much so that as soon as he took his father’s hand, he demanded, “Let’s get in line again.” The Tragachicos, that famous slide which is one of the great attractions of all the Pillars, has been installed today in the Delicias Park (at the entrance next to Duquesa Villahermosa) where you will be until 2:00 p.m. in the morning and from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the afternoon.
Barely two minutes pass 11.00 (at the time the first child was supposed to slide) and the Tragachicos already presents a great activity. A hundred people line up patiently (“Don’t worry, it’s fast,” they say to each other) to be devoured by a character that is already very popular in children’s imaginary. The most daring children (for obvious reasons, the use of this slide is forbidden to adults) they greet from above of the same as if they were doing it from the top of one of the highest peaks of the Pyrenees just before sliding down it. A journey of just a few seconds but that contains the magic of the one who disappears and reappears, a very simple fact but that stimulates the desire of the little ones as can be seen year after year with the success of this attraction.
The launch pad begins to accumulate too many children so you have to stop for a moment the climb up the small staircase until you can launch and empty the area. On the other side, that is to say, below, there are more and more parents with their mobiles ready to launch the photograph. It is the fate of the times, the one that also makes the children themselves come down and even those who do it with a scared face end up posing for the snapshot. The line grows slowly but the promised fluidity is fulfilled and no complaints are heard, which is still a sign that everything is working properly. There is even the moment of the clueless who pass through the neighborhood and when they see the noise they join the party. Someone even misses the music … The slide is still in full swing.
The Tragachicos, which is one of the few activities in these Pillars for which it is not necessary to reserve tickets in advance, is traveling during these ten days through the different neighborhoods of the city. If the first day was in Miralbueno and yesterday in Delicias, the next few days it will be installed in San José, Casablanca, Santa Isabel, Monzalbarba, Valdefierro, Torrero and Las Fuentes, respectively.
