Once New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said they might be looking for an outfielder for the upcoming MLB season, the rumors started to spread.
One of the names that has been linked to this interest from the Yankees is that of Bryan Reynolds, a Pittsburgh Pirates player with three years of experience in the Major Leagues.
Makes sense. Reynolds is 26 years old, can play center and left field and hits with both hands. He is coming off being Pittsburgh’s best hitter in 2021 with a .302/.390/.522 offensive line, 24 home runs and 90 RBIs.
Pittsburgh listens to offers for its main pieces and Reynolds, who was in the All-Star Game and who has several years left under team control, is no exception. However, there may be some difficulty in closing the deal.
To trade one of their best players, the Pirates will test the New York management’s willingness to trade several of their top prospects.
There are analysts who dare to predict that the names of Anthony Volpe and Jasson Domínguez will surely be put on the table. They could also ask for some combination that includes Oswald Peraza, Luis Gil or Everson Pereira.
