A new study warns us that the blue light emitted by mobile phones or the LED lighting in modern offices can be toxic to the human body. What dangers are we exposed to at home or at work?
We are bombarded with screens all day, which is not at all natural and beneficial to our body, because the light emitted by them does not allow our body to function optimally. What imbalances can occur?
Researchers at University Collage London claim that the environment we live in can be a ‘ticking time bomb’ for public health, simply because it can cause diabetes and shorten lives.
Professor Glen Jeffrey said: “Sunlight has the perfect balance of red and blue light, but at the moment we live in an environment where blue light is dominant. Although we don’t realize it, the LED light is predominantly blue and contains almost no red,” he wanted to specify. And prolonged exposure to blue light, which has no red in it at all, is potentially toxic.
“Blue light has a negative impact on the human psyche and can mess up our blood sugar levels, which can lead to diabetes,” added the scientist. Before 1990, we had incandescent light everywhere, which was good for us for the simple reason that it imitated sunlight, meaning it had both blue and red in it.
“At the moment, there is a ticking time bomb among the population, especially among those past prime youth, and the negative effects that this blue light can have can be corrected, at least in part, by increased exposure to the sun,” he completed the specialist.
Excess blue light messes up our mitochondria, which generate the energy our cells need to function. As a result, it can unbalance blood sugar levels and contribute to accelerated aging of the entire body.
It has also been found that exposing a person to red light for 15 minutes can restore blood sugar balance. In other words, spend less time in front of screens or in LED-lit rooms to keep your health within normal limits.
