The beaches of Anglet have been leveled. The work was carried out by the City.
The City of Anglet (Pyrénées-Atlantiques) has reshaped its beaches. The work was completed in mid-June 2021. The reshaping of the beaches consisted of flattening the sand mounds and recreating a gentler slope before the summer season.
The site has been carried out annually by the City of Anglet since 2014. A budget of 60 k € is allocated to it. The main objective of the project is to repair the effects of the “shore break”, a very powerful wave which breaks on the shore. The softening of the slope is also part of the securing of beaches for swimmers. In particular, it ensures better visibility of the swimming area for lifeguards.
Topographic and bathymetric surveys (measurement of the depths and relief of the ocean to determine the topography of the sea floor) are also carried out to control and optimize the reprofiling operations. The studies are carried out by Casagec Ingénierie, a design office specializing in coastal development.
