The tourists thought the car had been stolen. Ten minutes later they found it here.

– It is so steep and difficult that we have to wait for a larger car and safety equipment, says Bilberger.

This is how the car is in the Råheimsdalselva.

(Bergens Tidende): The West police district announced shortly before 2 pm on Saturday that earlier in the day they were contacted by two tourists in Viksdalen in Sunnfjord, who thought their car had been stolen.

– They called us and thought that the car had been stolen near Viksdalen camping. They had been away from the car for ten minutes and taken the keys with them, says operations manager Eivind Hellesund to Bergens Tidende.

The police thought this sounded strange and asked them to look for the car.

– It is not an area that is heavily loaded with car thieves exactly, Hellesund says.

Ten minutes later, the two tourists find the car, but certainly not as they had expected.

It was well planted between two stones in Råheimsdalselva.

This is how the car was when car rescuers arrived at the scene.

Waiting for a climbing harness

– This is something that can happen. Last summer, a car rolled into a lake in Sogn, Hellesund says.

There is no indication that there have been people in the car, according to the police.

Police are on their way to talk to the two tourists.

Bilberger is on site, but due to demanding terrain, they are waiting for the rescue until they have the necessary equipment, Arild Tistel, general manager of Førde bilberging, informs BT at 4 pm.

– It is so steep and difficult that we have to wait for a bigger car and safety equipment. Among other things, we must use a climbing harness in the steep terrain, says Tistel.
