The tourism performance of Epirus

IN VISITS, GIRLS, GET THREE NIGHTS

With the official figures for this year’s season expected to be released at the end of the year or the beginning of next year, the statistical and economic analysis of INSTE (Institute of the Association of Greek Tourist Enterprises) shows the spread the flow of tourists coming to the country according to region.

The increase in visits, overnight stays and income from tourism in 2023 compared to 2022 for the whole of Greece is not evenly distributed among the Regions, which shows inter- significant differences between them, with several of the undeveloped tourism Regions showing reductions.

Epirus does not register admirable achievements in tourism income and tourist traffic which has increased however, demolishing brutal stories of success stories that are often heard in the mouths of those in charge of the authority regional, which has both the money and the responsibility of the planners for the tourism policy of our region. Epirus maintains the least amount of income in relation to the total tourism piece in Greece, as it is near the middle of the list of Regions and they certainly still have a lot to do…

Finally, Epirus together with Attica has the lowest average expenditure per Visit, i.e. visitors to Epirus may be increasing but they consume very little…

In these categories there was an increase and in that there was a decrease

In terms of income, reductions were observed in four undeveloped tourism regions (Peloponnisos, Eastern Macedonia – Thrace, Western Greece, Central Greece) as well as in the Ionian Islands, and showed increase in all other Departments. Also, the expenditure per trip per region showed a decrease, despite an increase in the average expenditure per night, on the one hand due to the decrease in the average length of stay and on the other hand due to the transfer of demand to Regions with a Lower average cost per Visit such as Attica and Epirus.
