The Tour of the valley of Montluçon (Allier) maintained for the moment, but in another form, on May 23

They have more than one trick up their sleeve … While the current health crisis made it more and more uncertain the good performance of the Montluçon Valley Tour (TVM) in its usual form, over three days and three stages, the organizers of the Team Cycliste Montluçon (TCM) have chosen to change gear in order to maintain the competition. Which should thus stand on a single day, le 23 mai.

The context

“Usually the TVM is reserved for the best amateur runners (categories 1, 2, 3 + juniors), but due to restrictions they do not have no longer the right to ride for the moment ”, specifies Bernard Sistou, president of the TCM. “It would also have been difficult to ensure their accommodation and catering given the situation,” he adds. “So rather than cancel once again, after already 2020, we offer something else ».

decision

Result: everything must take place on Sunday 23 May with a unique race. And this will no longer be reserved for amateur cyclists but for semi-pros of Elite category, which they can still practice. The event will be called TVM, although it will not be a “tour” strictly speaking, and it has already been registered with the FFC calendar (Federation, French cycling).

The planned race

In detail, this would give us: “A test of about 160 km”, says Bernard Sistou. “With a start in Prémilhat, at the tavern, and an arrival in front of the town hall of Montluçon”. Between the two??

“We will try to go through as many towns in the agglomeration as possible and we would like to end with a circuit of four or five laps on both banks of the Cher at Montluçon. “

Bernard Sistou (President of TCM)

Finally, concerning teams, some Elites – including Team U Nantes Atlantique du Montluçonnais Bryan Alaphilippe – are already interested. In short, in all there are more than twenty formations and 120 participants that will be expected. Hoping that the epidemic does not come again to riddle their already fairly used wheels with sticks …
