The Tormented Perception: Robert Pattinson’s Complexes and Anxieties in the Actor’s Life

“It’s you who will be singled out, even if you have done your best…” The Batman philosophically shares his tormented perception of the actor’s life.

This won’t surprise anyone, but Robert Pattinson has some serious complexes. Chatting with writer and director Jordan Firstman (also seen in the series Miss Marvel) on Zoom, between various considerations on current events (social networks, celebrity and sexuality), the actor underlined the importance he attaches to the selection of the roles offered to him… but above all shared his anxieties concerning the almost total responsibility that actors assume for the quality of a film, according to him.

“I’m quite afraid of humiliation, since everything rests on the shoulders of the actor, in the end. You can say that it’s a shitty script, or that the director is an idiot, no one will take into consideration the real reasons. It is you who will be singled out, even if you have done your best”, he declares. Even having become a global superstar thanks to the triumph of the saga Twilight, Pattinson refuses to throw himself headlong into film projects without having meticulously weighed the pros and cons. Having been diverted several times into memehis role as a vampire no longer shines as it once did – which has undoubtedly cooled the actor, who has already complained a short time ago about the obsession with bodybuilding and diets among American actors.

Robert Pattinson can’t stop dieting to have a perfect body

From TwilightPattinson really knew how to find a balance between independent films (he had great experiences with David Cronenberg, Claire Denis, the Safdie brothers…) and large, well-chosen productions with Tenet by Christopher Nolan and especially The Batman. Nevertheless, he sincerely addresses this painful instability of the profession, in particular this insecurity within an often implacable environment. “I think we’re going to spend the majority of our lives unemployed, desperate, feeling like failures. That’s inevitable, in my opinion.”he sighs to Firstman. “Sometimes you can give it your all, and your contract only lasts three months, it’s the scariest thing in the world.”

While waiting to hear about the rest of The Batman always signed Matt Reeveswe will see it again in 2024, in Mickey 17the new science fiction film from Bong Joon-hoand in Average Height, Average Buildthe new comedy fromAdam McKay (Don’t Look Up). Come on Robert, I promise, we won’t point the finger at you if one of the three is bad. There is little chance.
