The Top Bundesliga Clubs of the Past Five Years: Rankings, Points, and Relegation

During the summer break, our focus is traditionally on the annual tables for the Bundesliga. It starts with the 5-year table of the Bundesliga.

24 clubs have played in the Bundesliga in the past five years. With FC Bayern, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Mönchengladbach, VFL Wolfsburg, Eintracht Frankfurt, SC Freiburg, TSG Hoffenheim, Mainz 05, Hertha BSC and FC Augsburg, twelve played first-class in all five seasons. However, the clubs do not form the top 12. 1. FC Union Berlin scored more points in four years than Hertha and Augsburg in five years each.

In addition to the Köpenickers, Cologne, Bremen, Stuttgart and Schalke were involved in four seasons. Bochum, Düsseldorf and Bielefeld played in the upper house in two seasons. Hanover, Paderborn, Nuremberg and Fürth all come together in a single season.

In the table by point average, 1. FC Union Berlin is also the biggest winner. The Berliners are in fifth place with 1.54 points per game. In addition to the top 5, Mönchengladbach and Frankfurt also break the mark of 1.5 points per game.

Six clubs have averaged less than a point per game over the past five years – consequently all clubs have been relegated at least once. The Franconian teams perform the worst.
