From January to September 2023, 16,295 people purchased a multispace car (MPV according to its acronym in English). These are cars far from the spotlight that have borrowed their external shape from small commercial vehicles, grandchildren of the Fiat Fiorino and offspring of the Doblò. And which stand out for their practicality of use, especially in the relationship between the length of the vehicle and the capacity of the boot, where it is also possible to fit a folding ramp, and for the presence of sliding rear doors. The dedicated accessories, from bike racks to roof racks, make them like Swiss army knives on wheels. Not fashionable, with an aerodynamic penetration coefficient that is not exactly record-breaking (like most SUVs) which is reflected in consumption, but extremely useful for those who need cargo. Despite the fact that multispace vehicles have a market share of 2% of new vehicle sales (in 2022 it was 2.6%), here is a selection of six MPV models in the strict sense, net of the success of the Dacia Jogger which is not a multispace vehicle , even if it resembles this genre.
