We learned during the pandemic how important it is to maintain hygiene and wash our hands thoroughly. But it turns out that it’s not just our hands that we don’t wash well enough.
It’s important to pay attention to all parts of your body when showering because not washing thoroughly can also make you more vulnerable to skin conditions and fungal infections.
Family doctor, doctor Jen Caudle from the USA, named five parts of the body that are often overlooked when it comes to hygiene procedures.
These are the places on our body that require more thorough washing.
Navel
You can’t even imagine how dirty this place can be. Be sure to pay attention to this during your next shower.
Space behind the ears
The doctor explained how to find out if you need to wash the back of your ears more thoroughly. Rub the back of your ear, then smell the finger you used. Can you smell it? It’s disgusting, you don’t wash this area of your body well.
Nails
The space under the nails, as a rule, is not washed. A lot of dirt accumulates under our nails and it is not so easy to wash it out. Longer nails may contain more dirt and bacteria than short nails, potentially spreading infections. Just remember this the next time you wash your hands or shower.
Legs
Dr Caudle warned that simply letting soap and water run down your feet in the shower is not enough to keep them hygienic. Your feet should be washed as thoroughly as you wash your upper body.
Toes
Particular attention should be paid to the toes. Be sure to wash them, not forgetting the space between your fingers.
