Soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo tops Forbes list of the world’s highest-paid athletes for the first time since 2017 – and third time overall – securing a Guinness World Records title for 2023, as reported on the prize’s website.
In the twelve months ended May 1, 2023, Ronaldo is estimated to have earned $136 million. Ronaldo takes over the title from Lionel Messi, who was the highest-paid athlete of 2022 at an estimated $130 million. Ronaldo’s record-breaking earnings are made up of $46 million in on-field earnings and $90 million off the field.
