Invited to begin hostilities, the Irish player from GV Hennebont, Alexander Gillen, logically lost his match which pitted him against the Japanese from Vienna, Jin Ueda in three straight sets. Dominated in the first two sets, Alexander Gillen found his fundamentals in the third, 6-7, but without managing to thwart the Vienna player in the final (11-7).
In match 2, the member of the GVHTT academy, Takumi Matsushita, failed to contain the number 1 of Wiener Neustadt, Frane Tomislav Kojic, who in turn won in three sets. In this meeting, the Croatian player, encouraged by his audience, was never worried by the young hope of the blue house.
Vladimir Sidorenko saves honor
After the break, Vladimir Sidorenko, centerpiece of the Hennebontaise Pro A team, logically won his match which pitted him against Croatian player Ivor Ban also in three sets. In the following match, Takumi Matsushita, who returned to the table, lost to Jin Ueda, which allowed the Austrians to win comfortably.
Hennebont will play its next group stage match on December 8, at the Ping-Center, against the Poles of
KS Dekorglass Dzialdowo.
