Beni Sukadis, senior research scientist at Marapi Consulting and Advisory, has asked the Ministry of Defense (Kemhan) to review the rank of lieutenant colonel o titular lieutenant colonel Indonesian army to celebrities Deddy Corbuzier.
“I think this gift should be reviewed by the government, especially the defense ministry,” Beni said when contacted CNNIndonesia.comTuesday (13/12).
He said the rank was not appropriate when referring to statutory standards.
Beni said that under government regulation number 36 of 1959 relating to special, titular and honorary military ranks, these ranks were awarded only to civil servants and officials who for the benefit of their positions were in a state of danger and national defense.
“There is no urgency for the government to grant incumbent status to DC,” he said.

Defense and military observer Connie Rahakundini takes a similar view. She also questioned the urgency of giving the grade.
“Now what needs to be questioned is Lieutenant Colonel Deddy Corbuzier’s rank in what context? For what urgency was he given this rank?” Connie said.
Connie also suggested that the rank be revoked.
“My suggestion is that the TNI Commander immediately rescind the titleholder rank, because there is no urgency to press for the titleholder award to an artist,” he said.
Earlier, Deddy Corbuzier through his Instagram account claimed that he received the rank of titular army lieutenant colonel from Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto. You said that the rank was also approved by TNI Commander General Andika Perkasa and KSAD General Dudung Abdurachman.
“This means starting a new journey for me to perform duties and responsibilities towards the unitary state of the Republic of Indonesia cleanly and impartially except Pancasila. I hope my presence in the extended family of TNI will provide new colors and ideas for the people, the nation and the state,” Deddy said.
Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto’s spokesman Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak said celebrity Deddy’s awarding the titular rank of lieutenant colonel was related to his ability to communicate on social media to spread national messages.
“Deddy was awarded this rank in consideration of the special skills needed by the TNI, namely social media communication skills, DC’s skills and ‘performance’ will assist the TNI in getting national messages out and socializing the duties of the TNI in order to maintain the Defense of the Republic of Indonesia,” Dahnil said, in a short message, on Friday (9/12).
