“Homelessness is the tip of the poverty iceberg in our society,” says Prof. Gerard Trabert, from the association “Poverty & Health” in Mainz on SWR2. At the suggestion of the left, Trabert ran for the office of Federal President. After Steinmeier won the election, he expressed great respect for Trabert at the time for his work for disadvantaged people. He hopes this momentum will continue. In March he invited Trabert to Bellevue Palace. So now comes the return visit. The Federal President comes to Mainz and personally looks at the work of Trabert’s “Medical Ambulance Without Borders” at the Mainz Citadel. “I hope that his visit will raise awareness again, a sensitivity even among decision-makers, so that people on the fringes of society are not forgotten, especially in the face of all the crises”.
