Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Dorna’s Chief Sporting Officer Carlos Ezpeleta mentions the record time Mandalika MotoGP test at the Mandalika Circuit very fast for the size of the newly used track.

“We have a MotoGP calendar here and the time is very fast. We are happy to be here and thanks to the MGPA and ITDC,” said Ezpeleta in an official release on Sunday (13/2).

As of Sunday at 12.56 WITA, Pol Espargaro’s best time is still 1 minute 31.06 seconds. The top speed is owned by Johann Zarco with 314.8 kilometers per hour.

Compared to other circuits, the best temporary record at the Mandalika Circuit is in sixth place. The best MotoGP record was created at the Sachsenring Circuit with 1 minute 21 seconds 228 seconds.

The length of the Mandalika Circuit is not included in the list of the top 10 longest in MotoGP. The Mandalika Circuit has a length of 4.32 kilometers, while the longest is Silverstone with 5.90 kilometers.

On the first day of pre-season testing at the Mandalika Circuit on Friday (11/2), Pol Espargaro made the best time of 1 minute 32.46 seconds. On the second day, Luca Marini shifted by 1 minute 31.289 seconds.

“We can say the track crossed by these riders is one of the safest in the MotoGP calendar. There are indeed some problems, but they are not serious problems. Everything can be overcome,” said Ezpeleta.

“We are very happy to be here. Yesterday we had a challenge with cleaning the track, it’s normal for the new track to be a little dirty,” explained Ezpeleta.

The 2022 MotoGP pre-season test at the Mandalika Circuit will last until 17.00 WITA. With the remaining time, it is predicted that the best time in Mandalika will reach 1 minute 30 seconds.
