The “time of the French” is the first highlight of WYD that RCF and Radio Notre-Dame broadcast live. This Tuesday, August 1 in the morning, the 42,000 young French people are meeting in Algès, by the sea, in the Lisbon agglomeration. A few hours before the opening mass of WYD (to be followed live at 8 p.m. on RCF and Radio Notre-Dame), a real show is planned.

This Monday, on the eve of the “time of the French”, the Conference of Bishops of France announced a tragic accident on the road to WYD. It caused the death of Mahaut, 23, who was traveling to Lisbon to experience World Youth Days with the delegation from Angers. “We pray for Mahaut”assured the bishops of France.
WYD IN LISBON, AN EVENT TO FOLLOW LIVE ON RCF
Proposed by the Catholic Church, World Youth Days (WYD) bring together more than a million young people from all over the world. Nearly 40,000 French people are expected from August 1 to 6 in Lisbon, this is the third largest delegation. A real “show”!
The “time of the French” is an unprecedented gathering in the history of WYD: the 42,000 young French people will be treated to a real show! With on stage, a slew of stars and great witnesses: the actor Mehdi Djaadi, the footballer Olivier Giroud (who will intervene on video), the singer and actress Violaine de la Théardière… The Christian rapper Gab will host a “pre-show” with the singer Zita. These two artists from Lyon are the interpreters of “All the country”, with Hush 777. This song is the remix of the title “Pompéi”, by HDX: a group of artists from Grenoble who will also perform on stage, for the ” post show”.

Young people sent on mission
The party and the dance but also moments of prayer and meditation. The guiding thread of the “time of the French” is chapter 5 of the Gospel of Luke, figure of the “missionary disciple” and model for youth, according to Pope Francis. Moreover, to speak to the young people, an influencer nun whom they know well will take the stage: Sister Albertine, very followed on social networks.
Young people will also be able to hear the exhortations of the cardinal archbishop of Marseille Jean-Marc Aveline, or even of an American bishop! Bishop Robert Barron, Bishop of Winona-Rochester, “Bishop Robert Barron”, is one of the most followed Catholics in the world on the internet. He has 3 million subscribers to on the Facebook page. Described as a conservative, this preacher is a former student of the ICP, Catholic Institute of Paris.
Exhortations, praise, worship and also testimonies of committed believers. Augustin and Hermine Leray, a couple faced with the ordeal of illness, will offer their testimony to young people, as will Anne-Geneviève Montagne, the director of Annuncio, an association dedicated to evangelization. At the end of the morning, a “commitment time” is planned. Young people will be invited to make a commitment to the service of charity, unity or evangelization.
