Buenos Aires, Nov 28 (EFE).- The last day of the regular phase of the League Cup ended with a 1-1 draw between Barracas Central and Argentinos Juniors.
The duel brought together two teams in the lower part of Zone A of the championship, and without any possibility of accessing the ‘playoffs’ of the domestic tournament. Although La Paternal’s team did have it in their power to play in the Copa Sudamericana next year.
‘El Guapo’, saved from relegation a couple of days ago, lived his last duel of the year calmly, in a season where they looked into the abyss for several dates.
After a very competitive first half where no team was able to impose its game, ‘el Bicho’ took the lead at the beginning of the second half with a goal from Paraguayan striker Gabriel Ávalos after a great pass from Jonathan Galván.
But in the 70th minute the local captain, midfielder Iván Tapia, equalized the contest with a penalty.
With this result, Argentinos Juniors could access the second continental tournament next year, if a place is released in the next phase of the League Cup.
The young forward of ‘Tifón de Boyacá’ Luciano Gondou finishes the League Cup as the championship’s top scorer with nine goals in 14 games, tied with his Club Atlético Belgrano colleague Lucas Passerini.
The tournament’s playoffs will begin this weekend and the final will be on December 16. EFE
