The Tibidabo in Barcelona reopens this Saturday with about 80% of the attractions in operation

The new Cuca de Llum funicular will not open until the first half of June

BARCELONA, 13 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Tibidabo Amusement Park in Barcelona will reopen this Saturday with about 80% of its attractions in operation after having been closed since October, the park’s director, Rosa Ortiz, explained this Thursday at a press conference; the first deputy mayor, Jaume Collboni, and the president of the Tibidabo Amusement Park, Albert Batlle.

The new season will be marked by the celebration of the 120th anniversary of Tibidabo, the 15 years of Tibiclub and the inauguration in the first half of June of the new Cuca de Llum funicular; In addition, an amusement park store will also open on Paseo de Sant Gervasi.

La Cuca de Llum will be the main access to the top of the park, which will increase the capacity to 252 passengers per journey and will offer educational content in virtual format inside.

With its renovation, it seeks to achieve sustainable mobility in the mountains and reduce about 1,500 tons of CO2 in five years.

The other key points of this new mobility will be the three Tibibus launchers –which will reach the lower station of the funicular–, as well as the creation of new greenways to climb on foot to the summit.

Some of the attractions that are temporarily closed are the Tibidabo plane, the Creatibi and the Hotel Krüeger, although practically all of them are expected to open towards the end of the season.

RATES

The new fare model raises the price of the ticket for adults and children over 1.20 meters to 35 euros – previously it cost 28.50 euros – although the price includes the trip in the Cuca de Llum and the service of pitcher, while the rest of rates do not go up.

The Tibiclub will have an annual cost of 152 euros for the whole family and 54 euros if it is individual, to which is added the 24 euros of registration fee, although exceptionally it will be free until July 31.

Using only the funicular will cost 12 euros and parking the car at the top will cost 13 euros, a rate that “is intended to discourage visitors from taking the car”, in the words of Ortiz.

In 2020, Tibidabo was only open 50 days – 36% of what is usual – and the park management expects that this 2021 it can open until the end of the season, which represents 78% of the opening offer .

In relation to the influx of visitors, in 2020 it was 16% compared to the usual total and the forecast is that in 2021 it will be 70%, reaching 450,000 visitors and thus recovering a certain normality.

In this sense, Collboni has stressed that the reopening of the park is a “first message of reactivation of the city, also in family leisure”.

To guarantee the security measures required by the health situation, the capacity of the venue has been limited, hydroalcoholic gel points have been placed, disinfection has been intensified, the catering offer has been adapted to the ‘take away’ format and signage with recommendations on hygienic measures.
