Jakob Johnson explains to the offspring of the FT 1844 Sacristans how a German can make it into the National Football League.

And yet Jakob Johnson, American football professional for the six-time Super Bowl champion New England Patriots, came pretty close at the online meeting with the FT 1844 Freiburg Sacristans. 70 young talents and coaches from the Sacs laughed at the 26-year-old German-American with questions about his remarkable career path from Stuttgart to a top team in the National Football League (NFL). Johnson stood patiently in the Patriots’ locker room for over an hour to answer questions.
Jochen Kern, head coach of the U-19 juniors and press officer of the Sacristans, made this exchange possible via the Zoom platform. He has known Jakob Johnson since 2013, when he was still playing for the Stuttgart Scorpions offspring and met the U19s from Freiburg twice in the youth division. Kern contacted the native Swabian via Facebook and he immediately accepted. “We wanted to offer the youth a little highlight in this difficult Corona time and motivate them to keep up with sport,” Kern explains his initiative. Due to the pandemic, only the players of the youth Bundesliga and the youngest players who operate the contact-free version of Flag Football are currently in training at the Sacs. …
