“The Three Musketeers – d’Artagnan”: A Must-See Epic Adventure in Theatres

It’s a joyous week for going to the cinema. In the 8/9Cathy Immelen advises us The Three Musketeers – d’Artagnan by Martin Bourboulon, the first part of a diptych on the adventures of four famous French heroes.

It’s the big movie of the week. Yet another adaptation of this great work by Alexandre Dumas, epic and romantic, which convinced Cathy Immelen. Mainly for its casting, with those it considers the best actors of their generation: Vincent Cassel, Romain Duris, Pio Marmaï, Francois Civil in d’Artagnan and Eva Green in the role of Milady.

The other strong point of the film is its reconstruction work, with sublime costumes. And if the latest versions were shot in studios or fake castles, these musketeers evolve in real historical settings, between Chantilly, the Louvre and the Val-de-Grâce.

All this for a modern result, lively, dynamic, and with a real energy that pulls the whole thing up. The film wants to attract the general public back to the cinema and fulfills its mission, since it is both entertaining, fine and intelligent.
