A specialist told how many cruise missiles Russia has in the Black Sea as a whole. As the spokesman of the Naval Forces of Ukraine of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Dmytro Pletenchuk said during a briefing, it is quite problematic for Ukraine to detect in the Black Sea submarine missile carriers that strike at Ukrainian territory.

According to him, the Russians now have three missile submarines in the Black Sea, each carrying up to four missiles. One of these boats is currently under repair, the other two are on periodic duty, writes UNIAN.

“There is no difference as such between surface ships and submarines in terms of the use of missiles, but in terms of their detection there is,” Pletenchuk said.

According to him, now in the Black Sea the total volley of enemy missiles can be up to 52 units, which are equipped with two frigates, three submarines and, according to some reports, three cutters.

He emphasized that it is impossible to counter such a weapon exclusively from coastal units.

The enemy fleet must be managed by the appropriate naval units that can operate at the appropriate depth in the sea.

“Only by having a powerful fleet, we have the ability to fight against the enemy’s fleet, especially against submarines. Because ships and planes have to fight them,” the spokesman explained.

The specialist emphasizes that the main goal of the Navy of each country is to ensure the safety of civil shipping. Therefore, Ukraine must build certain capacities – the shipping component, also because the sea has been and will remain the main export-import channel for the country, which provides a significant part of the economy.

The Russian army constantly threatens Ukraine from the Black Sea. In particular, on the night of June 14, the invaders attacked Odessa with four Kalibr cruise missiles from a ship that was in the Black Sea. One of them ended up in the trade network of Tavria. Because of this, a fire broke out, killing four people and injuring six others. Elsewhere, on Shevchenko Boulevard, six people were injured – there, during an aerial battle, significant damage was done to the business center, the Polytechnic University, residential buildings and catering establishments.
