The Russian delegation has already arrived at the meeting site near Brest in Belarus, the TASS agency said. According to the Belta agency, representatives of the Ukrainian party also arrived shortly before the scheduled start of the talks.

Adviser to Russian President Vladimir Medinsky, the head of the Russian delegation, said the Russian side was ready to negotiate with Ukrainian officials as long as it took to reach an agreement.

This is the third attempt by both parties to reach an agreement that would end the fighting in Ukraine. In the first two rounds of talks, the parties agreed on the need for humanitarian corridors to evacuate civilians. In practice, however, efforts to organize the corridors have so far failed because the ceasefire has not been observed.
