Rybakina and Kasatkina, respectively third and 10th seed of the Montreal tournament, concluded their quarter-final at 2:54 am, early Saturday morning, in front of several hundred enthusiastic spectators.

The clash lasted 3h27min, during which Rybakina came from behind to win 5-7, 7-5 and 7-6 (8).

In 2019, Bianca Andreescu defeated Dutch Kiki Bertens in 3h28min in Toronto.

The longest Canadian Open match came last year, also in the Queen City, when Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo defeated American Claire Liu in 3h33min.

The duration of matches has been compiled by the WTA since 2008.

Moreover, it’s a safe bet that the clash between Rybakina and Kasatkina is the one that ended the latest in the history of the Montreal event. But no statistics on this subject are kept in the archives.
