The third edition of International Cannabis Film Festival (FICC) begins today in Buenos Aires until February 26 with free admission and a program of 35 films from 16 countries, a fiction feature film competition and activities such as musical shows, talks, photographic exhibitions and gastronomic offers related to marijuana.
The festival will be held at the Casa del Bicentenario, the Manzana de las Luces Complex and the Cave Canem bar, with the Octubre TV signal in charge of broadcasting part of the programming between next Monday and March 6.
With 35 films from 16 countries, the Festival will have three competitive sections: International Feature Films, International Documentary and International Short Film.

There will be a day dedicated to art with exhibitions by national and international artists, concerts, gastronomy, training workshops for growers, and debates and conversations.
“The festival was born in 2019 in Montevideo and it started as a fantasy, but we realized that there were a lot of films that touched on the theme, that is, the theme was not so ghetto but rather the world is opening up more and more to this theme and there is more material”recounted in dialogue with Télam Malena Bystrowiczprogrammer and one of the directors of the FICC.
Bystrowicz highlighted that in the new editions of the festival, “every time we have more proposals and parallel activities, such as concerts, photo exhibitions and posters, emphasizing cannabis in relation to art”.
“During the second edition, we became aware of everything the space needed: to meet, debate, put these issues on the screen, summon cannabis organizations, artists and workers to expand and incorporate more ideas, other disciplines, competitions and activities”he added.

“There is a need to deepen the proposal and this year we are encouraged to program films that also talk about other drugs or substances and, to debate prohibitionism, harm reduction, mental health, business and interests behind it, the lack of information and why some drugs are legal and others are prohibited or stigmatized”considered.
