The third dose of the Pfizer vaccine would multiply the immune response capacity of our body in an exceptional way. The information must be taken with due precautions because it comes directly from the pharmaceutical company concerned but it is still a voice of hope, in particular against the now dominant delta variant.
The company, as it reports Today, said a third dose of his vaccine provides additional protection against the delta variant of covid-19, the most infectious to date, and which is leading the new wave of hospitalizations and deaths.
The drug manufacturer, presenting second-trimester earnings, stated that a booster dose administered at least 6 months after the second dose has a consistent tolerability profile, eliciting high production of neutralizing antibodies against the delta variant, 5 times higher in younger people and more than 11 times higher in older people than two doses. The company plans to release more definitive data on the analysis as part of ongoing discussions with the FDA, EMA and other regulators in the coming weeks.
Pfizer did not provide further details on the phase three study that began in July and enrolled 10,000 participants. Shares of Pfizer, which on the market, right now, are trading at + 0.78% are up 14.3% this year. The US pharmaceutical company plans to sell Covid vaccines worth $ 33.5 billion this year, thanks to orders for 2.1 billion doses worldwide. A much higher figure than the $ 26 billion the group said it was targeting in May.
