Dynamo Dresden lost 1-2 at Borussia Dortmund II on Friday evening, but remained top of the third division at least until Saturday afternoon. A mood killer for the Saxons after they couldn’t get past a poor 0-0 draw against Aachen last Sunday. This is clearly not enough for the East club’s demands. “Unfortunately we lost the game at the front, we didn’t pose enough of a goal threat,” said Dresden defender Philipp Heise to “MagentaSport” after the final whistle. Overall, the guests had 68 percent possession of the ball, but in the end no points. Dresden coach Thomas Stamm said: “All in all, we played a decent game – but we lacked efficiency up front.” You can’t put it any better.
The Dortmund Bubis surprisingly took a 1-0 lead in the Rote Erde Stadium shortly after half-time after being significantly inferior in the first half. Ex-Lion Christoph Daferner then equalized with a header in the 66th minute, but Antonio Foti scored the much-celebrated winning goal with an artificial shot.
Dortmund, who recently lost 1-2 to the Lions, jump to 10th place with this home win. “I just told the boys: I’m really proud! We played with heart and passion, we fought hard – and then you deserve a win like that. In this phase, this victory is really good for us,” explained Dortmund coach Jan Zimmermann to “MagentaSport”, who gave his players three days off after this surprise win.
The Munich Lions welcome Wehen Wiesbaden for the last Wiesn home game (Saturday, 2:03 p.m., db24 ticker): Coach Agis Giannikis has the full complement of personnel apart from Raphael Schifferl, who is still suspended.
