Deprived of Julian Lenz, their n ° 1, the Thionvillois made a sensational debut this Saturday at home against Montferrand. From the outset, Ugo Nastasi, first led (0-2), inflicted on Thirouin six games in a row to win the set (6-2). In the second, Thirouin started on the same basis (3-1) before letting go and allowing his opponent to offer the Moselle their first point. In the second match, Vankan made too many unforced errors (5-7) but reacted very well by pushing Mansour to the fault to win the second set (6-2) before winning the super tie break (14- 12).
If Heyman then bowed to Gerch (4-6, 4-6), Steinbrenner would deliver a remarkable game with Rousset (7-6, 6-4). Thionville then led 3-1 at the end of the singles and had victory in sight. But the doubles did not go as planned. The Heyman-Steinbrenner pair bowed quite logically while the Nastasi-Vankan duo, who thought they had done the hardest by reversing the trend in the second set (6-1).
