The FBI searched former President Donald Trump’s property in Florida, on suspicion that he kept classified documents about nuclear weapons in his home. Trump himself claims that it is not true.

On August 9, the FBI searched Donald Trump’s estate in Florida, Mar-A-Lago, by order of US Attorney General Merrick Garland. Never before has this happened to a former president of the country.
According to The Washington Post, the background for the search must have been, among other things, one suspicion that Donald Trump kept classified documents about nuclear weapons in his home.
Trump watched the search via surveillance cameras
According to The Independent Donald Trump and his family are said to have watched as the search took place via his surveillance cameras in his home. This is stated by his lawyer Christina Bobb.
– I think Trump and his family had a better overview of what happened during the search than I did, and I was there when it took place, Bobb is said to have said in an interview with Real America’s Voice.

Trump claims on his own website, Truth Social, that the allegations are nonsense.

It is unclear whether the FBI found what they were looking for during the search.

The search warrant is perceived as so controversial that both the Justice Department and Trump are asking for the order to be made public.
– I am not going to oppose the release of the documents related to the un-American, unjustified and unnecessary raid and burglary of my home, writes Donald Trump on his website Truth Social.
On the website, Trump calls for the immediate publication of the documents.
This despite the fact that Trump himself claims the documents were produced by his opponents:

It is not clear whether a possible publication of the documents will be clarified on Friday or not.
Nancy Pelosi stated on Friday that it is important to determine the seriousness of these documents that Trump is believed to have kept.
– I believe it is important to know how serious the contents of the documents are. Hopefully we will find out more, but we also don’t want to know too much because it could threaten our safety, she said according to CNN.
She is also said to have said that the information appears to be highly classified, well above “top secret”.
–The Republican leader in the House of Representatives, Kevin McCarthy, also wants the Department of Justice to publish more than just the search warrant.
– Why don’t they just make the documents public? You want to trust public bodies, and secrecy undermines this trust, said McCarthy.
Asked whether the release of the documents might justify the search, McCarthy said:
– We just have to see what it is.
According to CNN, the search warrant will contain logistical information: where to search, a description of what is being searched for, the name of the judge and a deadline for the search.
Sometimes an attachment with suspected offenses may also be included. The second document is a table of contents that describes which items were removed.
