The Plenary of the Municipal Board of Chamberí has approved the change of name of the theater that is inside the Galileo Cultural Center to be renamed Teatro Quique San Francisco, in recognition of the trajectory of the actor who died last March and the affection that it generated in the Madrid public.
The proposal, presented by the district councilor-president, Javier Ramírez, has had the votes in favor of the Popular Party, Ciudadanos and VOX, the abstention of Más Madrid and the vote against the Socialist Group.
With this proposal, Chamberí wanted to pay tribute to an artist who for decades lived in the district, on Hilarión Eslava Street, and who left no one indifferent. His life, his professional career and his way of getting on stage, whether to star in plays, movies or humorous monologues, made him a character loved by all.
As a film actor, he participated in more than 40 films and, in recognition of his work, he was awarded the Best Actor Award from the Ministry of Culture in 1979. In addition, he was nominated on several occasions for the Goya Awards and the Union Awards. of Actors.
