German officials have revealed during a meeting with the IG Metall trade union that the Tesla factory in Berlin is ready to significantly increase production volumes, and the German side also wants more Tesla cars to be produced in Berlin. People from the Ministry of Economy of the country are calling on the manufacturer to increase production to meet the demand.
If we believe the information coming from Germany, Tesla has recently been attracting around 200-300 new employees to this factory every week, while the total number of employees in the factory has already reached 9,000 people. Also, expansion works of the factory are underway and this project has been started. Although the factory has been operating for less than a year, increasing the production volume in Berlin has been problematic.
There have been reports in the past that Tesla is having trouble attracting new employees and retaining existing ones. The IG Metall union has also been involved in some cases and disputes, while Tesla employees visit the union office to report things that do not satisfy them.
So far, only Model Y cars are produced in Berlin, which are very popular throughout Europe. After Tesla cut prices in Europe, demand increased, warehouses are emptying. It has previously been reported that around 3,000 Model Y units per week can be produced in Berlin.
