The Terry Broome case in the first episode of “Cronache Criminali”

There are crimes which affect us more than others, which deeply disturb us. Why do they happen and remain etched in the memory, even years later? On Rai 1, from Monday 7 November at 11.35 pm, Giancarlo de Cataldo will tell about it in “Cronache Criminali”, the new true crime in-depth program, an original format co-produced by Rai Approfondimento and Verve Media Company. Eleven cases in the news, eleven stories that, from the 1960s to today, have made an era, marking the fate of the victims, but also our society: from the years of the Dolce Vita with the killing of Christa Wanninger, passing through the years of lead and the death of Pier Paolo Pasolini, from Milan to drink with the murder committed by Terry Broome in the 1990s with the case of Pietro Maso, up to the present day with that of Luca Traini. Emblematic crimes that, as in two sides of the same coin, tell a country at the precise moment in which they occur. They photograph social, customs and political outlines, but also the relational ones in which they have matured. Giancarlo de Cataldo will bring the audience into those stories, into that time, to better understand their contours and to deepen the dark side of each of us. The first episode takes us back to the mid 80s, the years of hedonism and ebb, when a crime reveals the dark side of the capital of fashion, business and entertainment: the Milan to drink, the Milan where everything is possible. Aspiring American model Terry Broome, with a dramatic past behind her, arrives in town and is sucked into a world of excess, substance abuse, perdition. In the throes of anger, cocaine and alcohol, at dawn on June 26, 1984 she kills the rich Roman scion Francesco D’Alessio who, according to the model, would have molested her several times. A murky story that shows the other side of the Milanese capital. To tell the crime, through the documentary written by Flavia Triggiani and Marina Loi, are some of the protagonists: journalists, judges, lawyers, experts and models. And Vanzina. He who, with his brother, was able to narrate the Milan of those times and the world of fashion in a cult film inspired by the Broome crime: “Nothing under the dress”. Through the testimonies, often exclusive to the protagonists, the use of original investigative and investigative materials, the collaboration with the Police Forces who carried out the investigations, access to private archives and the countless materials of the Rai Teche and archives of local media, “Cronache Criminali” deals with each case and investigates its multiple aspects: the deepening of the crime and related legal events by contextualizing the historical period, the environmental characteristics in which the facts occurred and the psychological profiling of the characters involved.
