Although with each generation we will see some new functions or minor improvements, Apple Watch has not seen any major changes for several years and it is not easy to recognize at first glance which generation it is. That’s about to change, according to Mark Gurman. Apple is working on a new Apple Watch X model, which will be thinner and will bring a new strap system with a magnetic attachment.
This means that compatibility with a wide variety of straps will disappear, whether we are talking about original accessories or third-party solutions. On the other hand, the change is intended to free up space for a larger battery and other components inside. There is also a lot of talk about the microLED display, which will be brighter and more colorful. Placing it in such a small and at the same time relatively affordable product will definitely be a challenge for Apple.

Another big topic is the measurement of blood pressure, which has been talked about for a long time and so far not even the Apple Watch Ultra can handle this function. The tenth anniversary of the Apple Watch would be a great opportunity to add this coveted feature. This also brings us to the expected launch of the new model. According to Gurman, we will have to wait. We are talking about the end of 2024 or maybe even the beginning of 2025.
What about the ninth generation?
But first, we are waiting for the ninth generation, which is expected to arrive this year and according to Gurman, it will bring a faster processor after a long time (for the first time since Series 6). However, the display sizes will not change and no other significant news is expected. For many users, it will again be a matter of minor improvements, which, after all, Apple comes up with every year as part of its watches. A year later, however, we should finally see real changes in the design of the entire product.
