Tofino is not alone, there is also Luna, a baby who arrived in July. The truth is that the new member was found in a deplorable state, almost on the verge of death. Today, Tofino and Luna have become history at Vancouver’s otter pup and marine species recovery center, since they never cared for two of these species at the same time. There are also baby seals on site that accompany the growth of both seals. There they learn to hunt and to assimilate into the aquatic environment. They are even taught to eat harmful algae, which are part of their food chain and which correspond to an essential environmental balance for the area.
To help the sea otter pups, people in Canada and the United States can donate money to symbolically adopt Tofino or Luna. When both are found fit to return to their natural environment, they will be returned..
